For patient’s ages 0·6 with Early Childhood Caries, general anesthesia can be a painless and atraumatic way to deliver treatment.
My name is Suzanne Clift.
I am a general dentist and have been practicing in a pediatric setting for 24 years.
Currently, in order for general anesthesia to be a covered by insurance, the treatment must be performed in a hospital or surgicenter. The waiting period for scheduling a general anesthesia case in a hospital or surgi-center can be 4·6 months.
Many of these young patients are in pain or will develop pain while waiting for their appointment. A dentist can treat 2·3 patients a day in the hospital or surgi-center.
Hospitals and surgicenters do NOT furnish dental equipment or supplies; therefore, the dentist must bring ALL of the equipment and supplies necessary for the procedure.
If an anesthesiologist comes to the dental office to provide general anesthesia the wait time for an appointment can be 1-2 weeks instead of waiting 4-6 months for the hospital or surgi-center. The dentist can provide treatment to 5-7 patients a day while remaining in the comfort their own office, working with their own equipment and supplies.
I find having an anesthesiologist come to my office to administer sedation allows me to concentrate on dental treatment and quality patient care .

SSDN had amazing time presenting our business at CDA Presents San Francisco last week!
September 4th-6th, 2014 at the beautiful Moscone Center in San Francisco SSDN had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of dental professionals and introducing our network. Our booth focused on educating dentists on the benefits of having a dental anesthesiologist come to their offices for various types of of treatment.
In addition to SSDN founder Janine Cunha, a couple of our networks Anesthesiologists, including Dr. Patty Ramos were in attendance to personally answer any questions.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us and those we had the pleasure of meeting at the convention!
